You do not have to be an encyclopedia of computer engineering and other related fields. A common sense rule about following a career path is to learn how to find answers. Of course, this is not about any answers, but about the right answers. Try to find the best resources in your field and learn from others, too. Even if you go to school for years, even if you think that you have learnt a lot, there is always something, important even, that you do not know. So keep your mind open. In order to become a computer technician, you need some certifications in the field. A computer technician must know a lot about computers, about software and hardware and things related. See if this is the career you want to follow, if you do not like it, you better step out of it immediately. You can choose to go to college or to follow two years schools. Either way, you will get to learn a lot about how to become a computer technician. Two years schools are good because they teach you there what you need to do in order to get a serious job straight to the point. There are several certifications that are important if you want to be a computer technician, like, for instance, Microsoft Support Certification, so aim for one or more to become more qualified for future jobs. An important thing you need to know about computer technology is that it is changing very fast. Once every two years, you will be required to learn about new types of models and this goes on and on, so be ready to keep the pace with the fast changes in technology. Your attitude is important when you are working with people. When you are a computer technician, you are required to work with people that have broken computers waiting for you to get fixed. Be prepared to deal with frustrated individuals that do not know anything about computers, but they still try to fix them by themselves. Usually, the computer technician gets there when they already tried everything and they do not know what to do anymore. It is your role, as a computer technician, to keep the atmosphere calm and to find out more about what has happened. The result will reward your efforts. These are only simple rules for you to follow if you want to become a computer technician. It takes some time and experience to get everything right, but, remember, if you go to school, learn the basics, get certifications and try to solve things patiently, you can develop a real career in the field.
