Controlling People: Find Out How To Recognize And Avoid Them
|
Controlling persons will attempt to separate you from your friends and family in order to make sure that they are in full control of you. Also, most controlling persons are moody and unhappy with their lives and they use control to posses others' lives and, as a result, make their own a better one. Here is a tip on how to recognize them. A controlling person will want to change your schedule and plans for the day. Usually such a person will be willing to join you in your plans but they always will find ways to change it. Be careful when receiving compliments from such individuals. Controlling people try to make compliments to get at you but they often sound wrong. That is because most of the time a controlling person tries to make you feel bad about yourself in order for you to depend on them and their control. If you are beautiful or smart, rest assured that the controlling people will make your life hell, mostly because they cannot control you until you feel bad, but also because they envy you. Nervous manifestations during an argument can be a sign of a controlling person, but keep in mind that there are also strongly opinionated persons that are not control freaks. Tolerance and acceptance represent one way to separate the control freaks from the opinionated persons. No controlling person will ever accept your statements or ways, but the opinionated one will be more tolerant and will accept your ways, when soundly based. Also, keep in mind that everyone wants to control others at one point or another, but for normal people there is a limit on how far this will go. In a conversation, the controlling person always tries to blame or judge others and never himself. Be sure to state your position during the conversation and end it before they can change the words in his or her favor. Look a little at yourself and try to find out if you are a controlling character. If so, take some time and deal with your problems and let others alone. Most often controlling others only gives you a sense that you solve your problems, but in the end the problems are still there until you fix them yourself. Controlling people never have friends that are more popular, smarter or better good-looking that themselves. Their complements sound shallow and they are used most often to point a defect of another rather than to make others feel good about themselves. Controlling freaks will always criticize and judge others in order to make themselves look good and superior. Be honest with you and others and they cannot criticize you or point out any flaw that you do not know about already. A controlling person will go through great lengths to assure that they control how you dress, act, speak and think, even if you are a strong person. They will see your inner power as a threat to their ego and they will try to get you down and in their control. Keep in mind that while controlling others is a bad thing, controlling yourself and having a high self-esteem is a good thing. Keep yourself focused on your actual problems, be sincere with yourself and be honest when you seek help from others. This way, you will never want to control other people.
