Crocheted Lace Curtains For Your Bay Window

Lace is a great way to filter light and stop harmful rays from coming into the room and damaging your furniture, rugs, flooring, art, and other room decor. It's also a great way to allow filtered light into the room. And some of the Scottish lace even has UV protection built into the curtains. A nice added touch. Lace curtains are generally made from cotton, polyester, or some type of blend. Very few of today's curtains will be 100% cotton but if that's what you want you can find them with just a little more hunting. Polyester is actually a great choice. Especially modern day polyester which is much softer, durable, and easy to clean. Oh yes, and it looks great too! There are a variety of polyester types and grades on the market. The higher quality polyesters called memory polyesters are a great choice for lace curtains. They'll retain their look and feel even after they've been washed. Cotton is always an excellent choice and so is a curtain that's 95% cotton and 5% polyester. The polyester will help keep the shape and make them just a little more durable. A valance can be used by itself or with panels and it can add a nice touch to a window. You could also add lace tiers to the bottom of the window. This gives a nice full effect that really draws attention to the window so it's a great choice if you want to show off your drapery. Bay windows look fabulous with crocheted lace curtain. The use of a valance with the curtains is worth considering as it adds fullness to the entire window. Bay windows are a terrific for providing a great view outside but they also pose a special problem with window dressings that compliment the windows rather than just hanging there. Lace does just that and because there are so many different color choices and patterns to pick from it's very easy to find curtains that compliment the room's decor. And curtain size is no problem either with so many size options. The types of laces you can choose from are also terrific. From the very modern to reproduction Arts and Crafts styles like Wisteria or Rennie, Art Deco, and of course traditional Victorian patterns. And if you like you can shop around and find authentic antique lace curtains. If you decide to purchase antique be sure to check the thread quality carefully. Thread tends to rot over time so you will want to examine closely for signs of wear or breakdown. You can choose from a variety of lengths and window sizes too. In fact there are as many size choices in this style as any other style on the market. If you aren't wanting a complete lace look and feel you might consider a delicate pair of lace tie backs and a valance to soften up the room. One or both will really make a nice statement.
