Curtain Designs - Enhancing your Living Room
|
Stand in your living room and take a look around. What is the main decorating theme in there? You don't want your curtain designs to detract from the main theme; you want them to enhance it. If you have a bay window, often the best design for your curtains is the valance design. These show off your bay window in a way that makes it look sunny and inviting, which is exactly how a bay window should look. Your curtain designs can go even further when you choose colors and patterns on your valances that complement the room décor. If you have windows that are near your kitchen and the kitchen and living room are open to each other, then your curtain designs on those windows could be more of a light country theme. Curtains that are tied back, possibly with a ruffle on the bottom, can be whimsical and inviting, making a nice segue from the living room into the kitchen. Placement of your curtains can be very important in the way you want to portray the feel of your home, so this kind of thing needs to be taken into consideration. You might want to really customize your curtain designs by making the curtains yourself. If you are handy with a sewing machine you could spend some time drawing out designs for your curtains, then you could make a pattern and go buy the material. This would give you a sense of accomplishment, plus you could have exactly the kind of curtains that you want without having to search all over for them. Whatever you decide to do with your curtains, you know that you can always easily take them down if you decide later on that you'd rather not have them there, so don't be afraid to play around a little and use your imagination.
