DISH Cable: The Advantages Against Cable TV

Satellite TV is considered by many to have so many advantages over cable TV, that at some point, the debate seems to have no more meaning. Yet still, it is only wise to consider the plus and the minus if you want to switch to satellite TV and we will help you do that.

What is DISH?

One of the most reputable TV providers in the United States is DISH network. Its rise to power meant the downfall of many companies that offered cable TV services, as more and more people got interested in satellite TV technology.

The price

Here is a little look on the prices. For cable TV, you can end up spending about $39.95. Depending on the area you live in, you can pay less, or more, and you will always have to pay extra for other digital channels that are not included in the 64 channel package.

For $19.99, you get to watch 40 channels with DISH, and only $29.99 for 230 channels, which include 60 Sirius radio channels. Because all the programming has digital format, you will not be charged extra for digital channels.

If we watch closely, we can see that the fees for cable TV have increased with 22% in the last 3 years, while the DISH fees have stayed the same.

The equipment

Cable TV equipment is usually free, but, if you want a digital video recorder, you will get it for a price.

At DISH network, they offer all their new customers a free satellite dish and free four receivers, as well as a free DVR or HD receiver.

The installation

When you want to get cable TV installed in your home, you will have to pay $39.95 for start and an extra fee of $9.95 for each room.

In comparison, DISH offer all the installation for free and the agent installing your equipment will also show you how to operate it.

The programming

DISH network offers its customers no less than 350 channels, with 52 music channels, 60 radio stations, 31 movie stations, 10 sport packages, 21 foreign channels and 80 pay per view programs.

Cable TV, on the other hand, has nothing to compete with this. They only have a bunch of digital channels and, for the others, you do not get the same good quality picture and sound.

The customer support

In terms of customer satisfaction, we should look at how many blackout the systems have each year. Cable TV experiences 3%-5% blackouts per year, while DISH network just 1%.

Customer support can be contacted on every hour, as this service is provided non stop by DISH network.

Conclusion

It is easy to take a decision after making this comparison. On all levels, DISH network comes out as the winner.
