Declination In Critical Illness Death Rates
|
While critical illness claims continue to gather each year and each day, it can also be noted that certain critical illness claims may also be rejected. But declined claims may have started to reduce. The reason behind can be that insurance companies may be educating their potential customers over the subject. By doing this, cases of non disclosure and non meeting critical illness policy definitions may be decreasing. Let's have a look at some figures. Moreover, reports from www.heartstats.org, March 2007, may show that around 2.6 million people still alive today may have already undergone an intervention of a critical illness such as coronary heart disease. Besides, for people below the age of 65, the death rate may have fallen by 44 percent during the past decade. Additionally, in the year 1970, around 0.08 percent of people based upon a population of 100,000 may have suffered from coronary heart disease. Then in the year 1980, the death rate due to this critical illness may have slightly increased. The figures then recorded may have been around 0.083 percent of people over 100,000. In the year 1990, a heavy downfall may have been recorded. Statistics read around 0.06 percent of people out of a population of 100,000. Afterwards, in the year 2000, the readings were even more encouraging with 0.035 people out of 100,000 suffering from coronary heart disease. Finally in the year 2003, nearly 0.03 percent of people over an amount of 100,000 may have suffered from this critical illness. Furthermore, Skandia affirm that out of the 12 percent critical illness claims rejected 2 percent could have been due to non disclosure. The remaining 10 percent could have been turned down due to not meeting the policy definitions. Moreover, out of the 88 percent successful critical illness claims paid, 59 percent could be resulting from cancer. This percentage could have equaled an amount of about GBP 90.8 million as payments made to critical illness policyholders. On the other hand, 15 percent of critical illness claims could have come from heart attack while 8 percent revealed heart surgery and 7 percent could have been due to stroke. Additionally, figures may also reveal that there may be about 1.2 million people living today after having undergone a critical illness like heart attack. According to, www.heartstats.org, March 2007, may be assumed that death rates for people under the age of 75 may have decreased by 39 percent during the last decade. There may be certain means to prevent a critical illness such as heart attack from happening. Reduction or stopping of smoking, decreasing the consumption of alcohol, having a careful balanced dieting and finally daily exercise might somewhat help to reduce the possibility of a heart attack.
