|
Here is a list of the materials you will need: 1. Scissors 2. Grommet Pliers 3. Grommets 4. Cording -3 yards 5. Curtain Rod 6. Finials 7. Add 12 to the length of fabric you will need. Measure from the rod to the window sill or 6 inches from the floor. Great now that youve got all your supplies together here are some easy steps to follow: 1. Cut off the tightly woven sides on the fabric referred to as salvages. 2. Place your fabric on the work surface face down 3. Start with the bottom hem first. Fold the material up 6 and press. Unfold the fabric and fold it up another 4 and then press the fabric again. Stitch the folded material the balance of the fabric. 4. For your side hem fold the material in 6 then unfold the fabric and fold it in another 3. The raw edge will align with the newly formed crease and press once again. Do the other side the same way. 5. Fold your top hem and then miter the corners. 6. Mark where the grommets will be attached and place one on each corner and then at 6 intervals. They need to be 1 from the top. If you want the fabric to hang looser space further apart. 7. Attach your grommets. You can practice on a scrap piece of material if this is your first time using a grommet tool. 8. Cut 3 yards of cording. Tape the end you are going to threat through the grommets and then tie a knot on the other end. 9. Run the rod through the loops of the cord. You can loosen or tighten your cord as needed. 10. Once curtains are hung check to ensure everything is correct and make any needed adjustments. You are now on your way to making all your curtains at home. You can save a lot of money by sewing your own window coverings and after the first pair of curtains it just gets easier.
