Decorative Wall Painting - Various Techniques You Can Try at Home
|
Choose the Right Colors Of course before you even get started with the decorative wall painting, it is important that you choose the right colors for the walls you intent to paint. Make sure that the colors you choose are going to go with the room. Many times you are going to need to go with two different shades for certain techniques. Ensure that you have a nice dark color as well as a lighter color. With the right colors, you'll end up with great results when you are finished with the painting. Sponge Painting One technique to try when it comes to decorative wall painting is sponge painting. It is quite easy to do and you'll simply need a nice sponge. First of all you are going to want to paint the walls with the base color that you have chosen. Once it is totally dry, then you take the rag, dip it into the light color of paint that you have, then you use the sponge all over the area until you like the way it looks. Remember, if you don't like it at first, you can go over it again with the base paint and try again. Stamping or Stenciling Another option you have for decorative wall painting is stamping or stenciling. These options make it easy to create beautiful walls. In fact, you can make it look almost like wall paper. Some stamps or stencils can create faux finishes that look great, such as stone walls or even brick walls. They are easy to do and you don't have to be very artistic to be able to do this on your own walls. Using Textures Textures can be used in decorative wall painting to really make your walls stand out. With the right texturing, you can make the walls in the room look like they are made of suede or even like they are made of plaster. These finishes can be created with special paint bases that will give your walls the textures that you want. Check with your paint store to see what types of bases are available. About The Author: |
