Deep Water Culture: How To Make Your Own Hydroponic Garden
|
Plastic buckets has been in use for a long time by deep water culture enthusiasts. The plants are put in net pots, which looks very much like wire baskets, and these pots are suspended over the buckets that are filled with water and other nutrients. The water is oxygenated through the means of an air pump, on the similar way they do for fish tanks. The growing process is supervised, so while the plants blooms, the nutrients become less and less available in the water; also the roots will be risen in the air, so they can get more oxygen. You will notice how fast the plant will grow through the mix of these methods. Another way of making hydroponic gardening is through recirculation of water. In a reservoir filled with water, the buckets will be placed, and they will be checked for pH levels and other aspects, such as conductivity factor - a very important factor that is used when determining the level of nutrients in the water. In order to use recirculation deep water culture, the easiest way is to connect the buckets between them; then, with some spray nozzles, make the water circulate through the buckets, ensuring oxygenation and aeration in the same time. This way, you will be able to mix the nutrients in a comfortable manner, and you will not have to test each bucket for the water qualities. It is very easy to set up your own hydroponic farm. With an investment of up to $100, you can start building it right away. You will need a bucket, an air pump - as the ones used for fish tanks -, an aquarium airstone, a net pot, and some organic composted bark. These are the main ingredients for your perfect deep water culture farm. Cut a hole into the lid of the bucket, so you can place the net pot you bought. You must also cut another hole, a smaller one, on the side, so you can connect the air pump. The airstone must be placed inside the bucket and the air line must be connected with it, so it can break the water bubbles. Light must be prevented from reaching the insides of the bucket, so you must cover it with duct tape, which will isolate it from all the sun light; otherwise, you will end up with a lot of algae into the bucket. The last step is to fill the net pot with the bark you bought along with the other stuff. In the bark, put the seeds of the plants you want to grow. Just fill the bucket with clean water, connect the air pump, and there you have it: your own hydroponic farm! About The Author: Camie Ibara is the Editor and Publisher of Article Click.
