Fireplaces are commonly included in living rooms but they can also be used in bedrooms and dining rooms to create a cozy atmosphere. Whether you choose a wood burning, gas or electric stove, you will have a variety of design options. Electric stoves provide the most design options and versatility because they can be installed and used in just about any location. Gas fireplaces also include a variety of options, especially vent free gas fireplaces. Much like electric fireplaces, vent free gas fireplaces do not have many restrictions on the location of the fireplace. A wood burning fireplace, however, provides a great deal of face options but is somewhat limited in where it can be installed. A brick or tile fireplace is a popular option for a wood burning fireplace. This classic style is easy classic and relatively easy to maintain. It also presents an appeal of warmth. Classic red bricks are an excellent way to make a bold statement especially against walls that are light in contrast. Tiles of earthy tones also convey the sentiment of a hearth that is a warming place for the family to congregate. You also have the option of including a mantle or not including a mantle in a wood burning fireplace. This is a matter of personal preference. A fireplace without a mantle can be sleek and stylish but the addition of a mantle presents a wealth of design options. Electric fireplaces are almost limitless in their design options. These fireplaces can be placed anywhere in the house and there is no limit to the types of faces that can be used on these electrical units. Wood, brick, marble and tile are just a few of the face options available when you choose an electric fireplace. Additionally, each of these materials is also available in a variety of styles and colors making it possible to find a design option that would match well with any décor. Gas fireplaces also have a unique charm and a variety of design options. Wood, marble and tile are popular facing options for gas fireplaces as are metal faces. One popular design option that is seen often in gas fireplaces is a dual sided fireplace. The appeal of this design option is that the fireplace can be enjoyed in two separate rooms. Popular locations for these types of fireplaces include bedroom and bathroom combinations and kitchen and living room combinations. Being able to enjoy the fireplace in two separate rooms creates an added appeal to this type of fireplace. The modern fireplace is no longer strictly for the purpose of heating a room or house. Today's fireplaces are about making bold decorating statements in a room or creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. The type of fireplace that you choose may inhibit your design options slightly but each fireplace has a multitude of options and you are sure to find a design that works well with your décor no matter which type of fireplace you choose. Wood burning, electric and gas fireplaces each have their unique charm that makes them viable options for your design needs.
