Design a Website – The plan

With the development of the computers website design has become a very interesting job and website designers have come into demand. A website is a collection of electronic files. Website design is the arrangement and design of web pages that in turn make up a website. These files stay on a web server/servers and present content and interactive features in the form of web pages. Web design creates these files. Texts, bit mapped images and forms can be placed on the web pages. More complex media can also be put on the web page. But displaying the complex media requires the plug-ins such as Flash, Quick time, Java run-time environment. These include vector graphics, animation, videos and sounds. Web pages are assessed on their utility and creative content. Webpage design is considered to be a creative form of activity and emphasis is put on creating a website.

Tim Berners Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web first combined internet communication and hypertext. Hyper text is text on a computer that leads the user to other related information. At that time, internet was only used to carry email and Usenet for quite a few decades. Hypertexts have also existed for quite some time now and their use was limited to information search on a single computer. With the combination of these two, a lot of things changed.

Websites are written in a markup language called HTML. The markup is mingled with the primary text. Early version s of HTML only gave websites basic structure and the ability to link using hypertext. The markup language became more complex and flexible as time passed. Now. images and other such complex mater could also be added to a webpage. The first page of a website is known a home page or index

There are many aspects in the design of web pages. The internet is developing rapidly. SO there is scope for the rapid development of websites and website designing. In the case of a typical commercial website, the basic aspects of website design are: the content, the usability, the appearance and the visibility. The content covers the information on the site. It should be relevant to the site and should target the public it is being addressed to. These two requirements are very necessary to the start of a successful website. The site should be user friendly. It should be convenient to be used. The interface and navigation should be simple and navigable. The style should be professional and relevant to make the work of the user easy. The site should be able to find and trace via most, if not all the major search engines and advertisement media.

After a website is launched it has to be published or uploaded in order to be accessible to the public over the internet. The webmaster may have some of his own methods to enhance traffic or increase the number of hits that the website receives. A website can be updated with the current tends in mind.
