Diabetic Diet Sheet: How To Use It

People with diabetes have a hard time dealing with all the health problems this disease poses. They are advised to take care of their diet on a regular basis, and they need to eat only certain foods. It is quite difficult sometimes to keep all this in mind, so we intend to offer here a little help on how to follow a diabetes diet plan, with the help of a diabetes diet sheet.

We think that you have already searched for such plans and came out almost empty handed, not because there are not many out there, but because they seem to be so complicated that you did not have the patience and power to keep up with them. The best thing you can do is ask your doctor for a diabetes diet sheet and learn a few things about each food that is forbidden or limited in consumption.

First, you need to know that the American Diabetes Diet says that people with diabetes need to eat 50-60% carbohydrates, 12-20% proteins and the rest fat. It is not good to eliminate the carbohydrates from your diet, as it will not be healthy. Instead, learn more about how to manage them. Here is a little tip: instead of eating three big important meals a day and nothing more, try having three smaller meals and two or three snacks in between. This way, the sugar level in your blood will be maintained.

Another good adjustment that you can make to your diet is to eat only healthy food. This includes a lot of fruit and vegetables, fresh meat, with little fat, whole grain products, low fat milk, and let desserts for others. It is not like you are forbidden from eating something, you just need to choose the healthier alternative.

Put on your diabetes diet sheet this classifications. They are called food exchanges and they were coined by the American Diabetes Association. For instance, in the category of fats, we have butter, oils, nuts; for proteins, we include meat, eggs, milk and cheese, while carbohydrates are breads, potatoes and beans. You need to know that sugar is processed and you should eat less of that.

You will also need to put on the diabetes diet sheet, the size of the portions that you are allowed to eat.

A person with diabetes has no problem having an ounce of cheese, half a cup of rice, four ounces of bagel, three ounces of meat, two spoons of peanut butter and a cup of pasta. It is enough food to go around!

You do not have to measure everything to the death. You just need to have an idea about how much you eat at each meal. Balance your diet with the percentage we showed you earlier, and you will be just fine. With these simple things noted on your diabetes diet sheet, your job will be easier and you will find yourself filled with energy and feeling healthier. You will lose weight and you will look better, as well! Good luck with your diet!
