Hughes receivers are all loaded up heavy with lots of common sense functions that you are going to find yourself using every time you sit down to watch your TV set at home. They are also very well designed and you won't help but admire the solid low profile appearance of your Hughes receiver when it is sitting on top of your TV set. The Hughes Director receiver is their base level model and it comes with a long track record for quality and reliability. This is the work horse of Hughes receivers, because it is designed with fewer functions and is the best model for use with DirecTV's base level programming package. It has a one-hundred and twenty-five channel capacity and can easily stand up to the heavy use it will receive form children. Moving up from there is the Hughes Executive model receiver and it comes with a two-hundred and fifty channel capacity and lots and lots of great no nonsense functions that are anything but just whistles and bells. Two functions that you will easily make steady use of are the custom menu and the program search function. The custom menu is necessary when you have a lot of channels in your programming package and you don't want to constantly surf through them every time you watch your TV. With the custom menu feature you select out your favorite channels and the receiver will feature them in another separate menu that you can look over to decide what you would like to watch. The program search function is a great feature that lets you find a program or movie by simply entering it into the function by its name or even the name of an actor in the movie and it will pop up on the screen with the simple touch of a button, also showing the date and time it is on. If you click the one touch recording button it will also be set to automatically record when it does come on. The Executive receiver also comes with DVR Powered by TiVo and this function allows you the ability to do your own instant replays in slow motion. The next level of receivers up from there are the Hughes high definition receivers and they each come with two-hundred and fifty channels capacity and they have standard and high definition capacity.
