Do You Need A Portable Air Compressor?
|
I bet you didn't. Too often it slips past the homeowner and they are left doing theses chores the old manual way when they could save plenty of time and a lot of money too. And the outcome is fantastic! There are many different manufactures of the portable units including DeWalt, Craftsmen, Makita, Stanley Bostitch and plenty of others. In fact they are just too numerous to list. I'm not going to spend a great deal of time justifying which product is best because all of these brands are excellent. It's more about choosing a compressor that will meet your needs over time. You air tools require a constant supply of compressed air in order to work properly. That's why you need to watch the tank capacity and the compressor's horsepower. The larger the tank the higher the PSI for a longer period of time which gives your air tools more power. The two main types of compressors are the piston style and the compact style. The piston style has a pump that is used to fill the tank and the tank store the air for use at a later date. You can choose between single and two stage compressors. The compact compressors don't have a holding tank but rather they run continuously to provide air for the job. These models are very small and very light but they aren't able to provide adequate pressure for a lot of the equipment. They will however provide enough pressure for a paint gun or a lubricant gun. You need to sit down and make a list of the equipment you have that you want to use the compressor with and determine the CFM and PSI required as well as the horsepower. If you are going to be placing high demands on the unit a commercial grade might be better for you than a portable but if you just want it for those occasional jobs such as spray painting your house then the portable will do the job for you. Portable compressors are very reasonably priced ranging from around $200 to $500 depending on the style and the options. There are some great buys online in a mixed range of prices depending on the features and style picked. There are many excellent sites online that specialize in compressors and other air tools. So you should take some time to shop around and see what each has to offer you. Remember by shopping around you will get not only the best equipment but also the best pricing. Generally it is very easy to beat any local pricing because the online market is so competitive and they also tend to have less overhead because many do not have a brick and mortar storefront. So which portable air compressor is right for the job you have in mind? Are you ready to go shopping? About The Author: Adam works as a air compressor technician for over 7 years.
