Document Corruption after you use the Mail Merge

The first step is the creation of a file, called data source which is mainly a spreadsheet or database, which stores a set of information of the addresses of the people, to whom the letters are needed to address. After this another file is created, called template, which holds the text intended to be repeated in each output document. Then the mail merge is run to get the required multiple documents. But sometimes this whole procedure can be little problematic, causing the unexpected results. The merged document may be found corrupted or damaged. This may also happen that some parts of the text are missing, contrary to the expectations. The reason of this problem can be any out of: - The template containing the fixed text is corrupted or damaged - You have installed certain hotfix on your Windows based system This corruption of the document can be a result of the virus attack, unexpected system shutdown, application malfunction and many similar reasons .As the solution part, Microsoft has suggested locating the following registry key in the registry editor: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Options Then in the 'edit' option, you need to set DWORD Value to AllowFieldCorruptionRepair and the 'Value Data' box type '1'. After this if the damaged documents get repaired then you need to set off the AllowFieldCorruptionRepair. But this solution is not recommended for the Word repair. The reason for this is the sensitivity of the registry keys. An incorrect deal with the registry keys can accelerate the document corruption problems and hence Word recovery would become tougher job to be performed.
