Simply put, dog mating has, as a purpose, to obtain new puppies. But, while many dog breeders care about the health of their dogs, other may be too much stimulated by gaining a profit in doing so. This is not a bad thing, but the health of the animals is very important and it should not be overcome by the interest in gaining extra cash from dog breeding. Any dog lover knows that animals do not grow by simply providing only bare necessities. They need to be loved and cared for and not to be used only as a source of profit. The main purpose of dog breeding is not money, so anybody must keep these simple rules in mind. There are ethical procedures in mating dogs and they must be obeyed. Also, the dogs must not be neglected and any ethical issues about dog mating should be known by the dog breeder. Work closely with a vet when you decide to mate dogs. Your vet will be able to tell if the female dog is ready for mating and he or she will provide you with a certificate to prove it. The doctor can also be a great source of information about what are the best methods to perform the mating in order to maintain the health and the welfare of the animal. If you own a female dog, make some research to find a reputable dog breeder that can provide you with a male specimen for which details like state of health and a certificate of breed can be provided. After all these procedures are performed, you must take the female dog where the male dog lives to perform the mating. Female dogs have certain times during the year when they are most suitable to be mated. You must know when this time arrives for your dog so you can plan the mating. Dog breeders consider that mating is best to be performed in the 9th, the 11th and the 13th days of the female dog best period of mating. In order to get her pregnant, the mating session must be of at least ten minutes. The female dog must be calmed down, if she does not want to mate with the chosen male. The vet will be able to tell if your female dog is pregnant three weeks after the mating session. Mating should be done between specimens of the same breed, but cross breeding is possible.
