Double Space - Why is it so popular?

When you need a document to appear many pages longer that it is you can do so by double spacing. For example your boss may want a 5 page typed report and you only have 3 � . By going with double spacing though you end up with much more than your necessary 5 pages. You do need to be careful though as your boss may have specifics on what type of line spacing he wants on such a document. Not everyone is a fan of double space though due to the amount of paper it wastes. You will often find in the business industry single spacing is the norm. However, to compromise some locations have chosen to use 1 � spacing so that the information isn't going to run all together and be distracting to read. When you have a business though with hundreds of such documents being created each day you need to be careful. By double spacing you will increase the overhead when it comes to the cost of paper. You can also experiment with the overall look of the document from single space to double space. You can do this by highlighting all the text and then changing the type of spacing. If you don't like it simply change it back. If you have to print out your entire document you may find it more practical to keep it single space. Yet you can review it on your computer as double space first. That way you can identify any problems easier before you print out your final draft of the document. It is very simple to set your materials up to be double spaced on your computer. You can have it as your default just by going to the formatting and then choosing paragraph. In there you will see a drop down menu for line spacing. You can have the default on double spacing but also the ability to change it when you need a specialized look on any type of document you happen to be creating. You may find that each type of program such as Word and Text have slightly different ways of changing the materials to double space. If you need help though you easily find it offered within such programs. Once you get the hang of where to go you will find changing to double space is very simple.
