The first question to ask yourself is: when to take the pictures? The ideal time to take the engagement photos is during the year prior to the wedding, and, preferably during the season when the proposal was made to catch the spirit of the engagement event. The second question would be: where to find a good photographer? You can ask among your relatives and friends for a professional, or you can search photo studios online. This will give you an insight on what kind of pictures they can take, and if they are according to your tastes and wishes. After you decide for hiring the service of one photographer, you just need to ask if there are any discounts available and talk about your preferences. Then, the next question would be: what kind of photos to make? Candid or professional? Professional photos will be made with a lot of props and they will need to be taken on different locations. But, if you like candid photos, then a few rules must be applied. Remember to wear clothing that is in contrast with the background and to focus the attention on the couple and not on any other elements in the picture. Choose whatever you like, according to your budget and preferences. The next question in line is: what clothing should you wear? It does not work right if your spouse is dressed casually and you are dressed formal, so decide together how you two will show up dressed for the occasion of taking the engagement pictures. Personal style is encouraged, as the couple needs to be presented in a natural light. Do not wear too much make up or too much jewelry, it will distract the watcher's attention from you two. How to pose? That would be the following question. Some popular poses suggest the image of putting a ring on the bride's finger or a gentle kiss shared between the two lovers. Whatever pose you like best, make sure to be representative for you, as a couple. Outdoor photos are very much preferred, as well. Now comes the part when you think about money. What would be a reasonable price for engagement photos? For 48 picture, $30 is a standard price; if you go for digital pictures, you will need to pay only for the development. Now, according to the photographer you choose, some variations in price may appear. Some with ask for $75, other for more, up to even $300. Printing the pictures will represent additional costs, so be aware of that. If you want to go cheaper, search for a student photographer. You may stumble upon a real talent, and you will get to pay less for good services. Other people may appear in the engagement pictures, as well. If you like to have your family next to you, include them in these photos. Also, if you already have children, they must be in the photos, as well. What to do with the engagement pictures, now?
