Enjoy The Luxury Of A Silk Filled Comforter

Not so many years ago silk comforters were common among the wealthy and noble classes in China. Today you can enjoy the luxury of a silk filled comforter too!

So why were silk comforters so important to the wealthy Chinese? What made them so special? Silk comforters were will with cotton fiber combined with longer silk fibers which were aligned and stitched into thin layers of fabric. These layers were then stacked inside the silk shell and sealed. The result was a luxurious warm comforter that allowed the moisture to wick away.

The only difference between a summer and winder silk comforter were the number of layers of fill. The comforter was then placed into a cover that is much like our modern day duvet cover. This cover is washable so the silk can be kept beautiful and pristine.

Although silk comforters are readily available throughout North America, in China still today the silk comforter remains a status symbol.

Silk comes from the cocoons of silk worms. One cocoon can produce as much as 1300 years of continuous fiber. It's hard to imagine how this natural fiber can produce such a beautiful product.

Of courses there are synthetic fibers that can be created that produce long filaments but silk is the only natural fiber capable of such a feat. And absolutely nothing has the luster and luxury of the silk fiber.

But not only is it beautiful it's incredibly strong, durable, repels dirt and mildew, and it absorbs perspiration. Sometimes it's very difficult to outdo what Mother Nature offers us. And that beautiful silk comforter will last so long it will become a family heirloom enjoyed by generations to come.

The silk filling will never seep out of the silk shell which often happens with other types of comforters including the most expensive. The silk fabric has a dense weave and the smooth fill mean there will be no fill that gets loose.

If you have allergies silk is a perfect choice because this natural fabric is completely hypo-allergenic. And here's the good news. The price of a silk comforter is really not any more than any other high quality comforters. And what a great investment. So what's on the market?

1. Dreamsak Comforters are 100% silk in and out. They are light, warm, soft, and so luxurious. Baffling holds the silk in place wrapping you in a cloud of luxury. The cover is pure Habotaj silk with spun silk floss. Choose cream, white, tan, or gold.
