Fabric Ceilings

Some items you might need to do your own fabric covered ceiling are: fabric, coordinating trim, pieces of 1" lattice, and electric staple gun, iron-on interfacing and a hot glue gun and glue. First, measure the ceiling and determine the amount of fabric needed. See how many panels of fabric you will need to fill in the space. Sew the panels together, and then staple the lattice to the selvage edge. Screw the lattice into the ceiling starting in the middle and stretch the fabric panels as you move out towards the ends. Once all the panels are secure, staple the fabric to the ceiling all the way around the edge. Create a template to make scallops out of additional strips of fabric and iron interfacing on the back. Attach the trim with hot glue to finish the edges. Staple the scallops to the wall along the turned-under hem. There you have it! A beautiful fabric ceiling is not a hard do-it-yourself project. Fabric ceiling finishes offer a wide range of opportunities to create unique designs through custom colors and textures. Fabric ceilings can be direct mount, or direct susupended, span acoustical ceiling, or baffles and free hanging screens. Custom curved panels finished in an accent color suspended in a basketweave pattern using a suspended reveal mounting method is a really cool looking fabric ceiling. You can get as fancy or as simple as you like to go with this idea. For quiet homes , you can stretch your imagination and go with a wide-span fabric ceiling in acoustics for a beautiful look. For the first time, virtually any residential ceiling can incorporate superior sound control without abandoning the clean lines of a conventional drywall look. There is a stretch fabric system for residential ceilings that consists of a durable dimensional stable yet acoustically transparent textile fabric available in widths up to 16'4". It is an integrated high acoustical performance glass fiber blanket. It has a retaining track that is available in various configurations to accommodate perimeter, midwall, or corner fastening and securing the fabric. This quiet system can create a clean, crisp, seamless expanse of ceiling for rooms with wide ceilings. More and more homebuyers are looking for ways to reduce the noise in their homes. They want the beauty of cathedral ceilings and the refinement of tiled or hardwood floors , yet they wnt to enjoy the quiet intimacy that isn't typically found in open floor plans. Now interior designers and architects can create living spaces that have noise control built in. A fabric ceiling system can absorb unwelcome noise within the living space without sacrificing the elegance of design. Flat, domed, vaulted or coffered ceilings, custom-designed floating clouds, all of these architectural features can not only be accommodated but for the first time they can be easily installed in a home environment using a fabric ceiling.
