Believe it or not, there are ways that you can actually create a fake virus. In fact, many people decide that they want to create virus that will freak out their friends. It won't cause any actual problems with a computer, but it will make the computer shut down, which can be very funny when you are trying to play a joke on someone and you want them to have a moment of panic and then a good laugh. Wondering how you can create a fake virus of your own? Well, here are a few steps that will teach you how you can accomplish this for some fun.

Start by Creating a New Shortcut

The first thing that you need to do to create virus is to start out by creating a new shortcut. You'll go to the desktop, right click on it, and then make a new shortcut. It is not difficult as well and should work on most of the computers out there.

Add a Location

The next thing that you will want to do is to add a location for the program that you are going to use for the fake virus. You'll want to type the work "shutdown" into the text box that comes up. You'll also add some code and a message that the program is going to give to them when their computer shuts down. Once you have done this, then you are going to want to go on to the next screen available.

Have a Name for the Program

Now you have to come up with a name for the program or icon, which is actually the fake virus. You will want to pick out a great name or even name it like a program that is real so that they will actually click on it. You may need to make sure that you get the right picture for the program name that you decide to use as well, so they are not aware that you are not using the real program.

Change the Icon

Make sure that you change the icon when you are creating a fake virus. You will need to do this by going to the icon, right clicking on it, and then going to properties. Then you will want to change properties. Another type of a window is going to come up and you can find the icon that you want to use, preferably a real one, and then you can make sure that it is added so that the icon uses this picture.

Send the Program

Now you are ready to send the program. You can easily send the fake virus to a friend through their email or even through instant messaging. Just make sure that you are ready for a good laugh when your friend totally freaks out when their computer does a shut down on them. You'll have the best fun if you send it through an instant messaging window, since they'll quickly be logged off when the computer shuts down. No doubt you'll be getting a great laugh.
