Find New Friends - How to go about it
|
First of all, on your quest to find new friends, you aren't looking for just anyone. You want to meet people who have some things in common with you. Though we can all benefit from diversity in our friendships, there has to be some kind of common ground, if only that you and your friends all love diversity! The bottom line is that you should have things to talk about and some common beliefs and values so that you have a foundation upon which you can build. Though it is said that opposites attract, when it comes time to make new friends this would be the exception rather than the rule. How can you make new friends? One way is to get over any shyness you might be feeling and be a little bold when it comes to people that you find interesting and potentially compatible. If you've started a new job and you meet someone there with whom you think a friendship could be possible, ask the person if they would like to run to that sandwich place down the road with you for lunch. If it would make you feel a little more secure, ask a couple other people to go too. To have a friend you need to be a friend, so in your quest to find new friends you need to not make it all about you. Ask other people about their lives and their goals. Be a good listener, and don't be judgmental. One of the best things about having friends is the give and take. When you really listen to other people you are learning things that you can apply to your own life. When you support other people whether they are going through good times or bad times, you are giving them something valuable and enriching your own life as well. About The Author: |
