Fine Art Lamps For That Finishing Touch



Picture it! Your gorgeous spiral staircase accented with an exquisite chandelier, or your foyer adorned with a Tiffany lamp. Fine art lamps not only add the finishing touches they are an excellent investment.

Whether home is a beautiful 6000 square foot country estate or a 1000 square foot contemporary condo there's a place in your life for a fine art lamp. Perhaps more than one. The European influences from France and Italy can take a room over the top!

There are many types of fine art lamps to choose from. Have been around for centuries. From sparkling crystal, to metal work, to Tiffany there are many different styles that have evolved over the years. Choose the type of lamps that will add elegance, class, and beauty to your room.

1. Table Lamps
Are anywhere from 30 inches to 36 inches tall and are the most popular form of portable lighting. There are an endless number of styles to choose from but Fine Art styles such as Tiffany or crystal lamps will compliment any room.

2. Console Lamps
Are anywhere from 32 inches to 45 inches tall. Because they are so much taller than table lamps they are a perfect choice for a room accent or focal point. The styles are also endless for console lamps but the art deco, arts & crafts end to dominate. The fine art styles are definitely a great choice for a focal point.

3. Floor Lamps
Are from 60 inches to 72 inches tall. They provide task and ambient lighting that usually diffuses the light downward. Floor lamps are an important design element in a room so use it wisely. Tiffany or Tiffany style shades are truly the perfect finish to any room.

4. Torchieres
Are from 72 inches to 78 inches tall and direct the light up. They are a great choice for ambient lighting but are a poor choice for task lighting. Torchieres can make a room look larger especially if the ceilings re white and they work very well in dark room corners. Art glass shades are worth considering!

5. Table Torchieres
The miniature version of the Torchieres providing the same type of lighting but in a more flexible size. Place strategically in your room to help tie elements together. They look fabulous on a mantle.

6. Chandeliers
Are the most traditional type of lighting around. Whether you choose a multi bulb or candle style. There's an ambiance that goes with this type of lamp that no other can create. Perhaps it's beauty by age? Perhaps it's the level of sophistication? Perhaps it's the depth of artistic impression? The reason matters not. What matters is recognizing what a chandelier can do for your room. And chandeliers don't just belong in the dining room. Be a little creative!

7. Pendants
These ornamental lamps are suspended from the ceiling by either a cord or chain. They are truly a work of art worthy of passing from generation to generation. Generally the intricate metal work is accented with a beautiful glass shade. Choose from antique to modern pendants. Pendant lamps are just waiting to get noticed.

8. Flush Mounts
This type of lamp provides ambient lighting to the room. Lamps can be singles or multiples. Choose a style that compliments your room. Your flush mounted lamps are not the place for focal lighting; instead they should tie your room together.

9. Sconces
Oohh la la - this is an opportunity to make a statement. Sconces are very decorative wall mount fixtures that can be candle or electric. From the simplest lines to the most extravagant sconce lamps are a great choice for a focal point.

10. Drop Lights
These trendy lamps are perfect for a bar or kitchen. They are stylish, attractive, and capture attention without being overbearing.

Your lighting should play an important role in the home dcor of every room in your home.
