Fourwheelers - Tips for Buying a Used One

Fourwheelers are really a lot of fun to ride. Fourwheelers can also be very expensive to buy especially a new one. It's not just the fourwheeler itself that can make this activity expensive, but everything else you need to enjoy the sport completely. Things like the riding gear for you to wear, the vehicle gear like tools, and tool satchels, and cargo racks to. Add to that the trailer and gas and the cost of this sport can get out of hand. That is why it isn't a bad idea to consider buying a used fourwheeler. They aren't as expensive as a new ATV and will keep the cost of this sport a little more under control. Here are a few things you should do before purchasing a used ATV.

Research Different Types of Four Wheelers

Do as much research as possible on the different types of fourwheelers available. The reason for doing the research is that there are many different manufacturers of ATV's out there and while all ATV's basically perform the same functions the do come in different looks, styles, and applications. There are three wheel ATV's, buggy type ATV's as well as the cycle type of four wheel ATV's. They also can vary greatly depending upon horsepower, tires, and size, so you need to find one that fits your needs as well as you the rider.

Look for Quality Sellers

Look for dealers and sellers of quality fourwheelers and ATV products. Most of the manufacturers have their own dealerships and sell both new and used equipment. There are also dealers that sell more than one manufacturer's products and you can usually find a larger selection of very good reasonably priced equipment with one of these. You might also want to look at private sellers, because then you are not dealing with a business who might have a quota to make or might not do any more to the ATV than clean it up. A private seller will usually maintain their equipment very well, because they want to sell it and might give you a better price than a dealer, especially if you are going to pay cash.

Know the Right Questions to Ask

When talking to a dealer or seller of fourwheelers make sure you know the right questions to ask. You will want to ask them how much it will cost to buy their ATV. Also ask them what kind of maintenance has been done. Ask them about performance modifications done on the ATV also. Another good question is to ask them if any major mechanical repairs have been done. One more good question will be how old are the tires.

Be Careful When Buying Online

Be careful when you consider buying a fourwheeler on line. You can often times get a very good price when buying on line, Since you have not seem the ATV in person you can wind up buying a lemon, so be careful.
