One idea is to do what your school is doing! Many of the high schools will host after prom activities. These may be simple evenings such as having everyone come together for yet another party. They may have a variety of activities, food, and dancing. After prom activities are far less stressful and formal than the event itself. They are a time to "party" without the threat of alcohol or sex. Most of them go well into the night, even as late as two or three in the morning. After prom is a great way to avoid the sex situation. Another route to take is to go home, but you do not have let your date go. For example, you could head to an all night restaurant to drink coffee and talk. You could go to a bowling alley to have a few games and to avoid the sex situation. You could go to your favorite movie theater to catch a late night movie. In short, you want to do something that is fun and keeps you together, but keeps you out of the sex situations. Why not go to the beach with friends? There are many ways to enjoy your after prom without having to worry about the sex situation playing out. Go ahead and talk to your date to make sure they know this is what you want. That way, there is less pressure on both of you to avoid the sexual encounter and more focus on just having fun on this hugely important night. Keep yourself out of places where it could happen.
