Gallbladder pain is a sign for a disease of the gallbladder that many people suffer from, so if you want to know a few things about the subject, this article is addressed to you. Gallbladder diseases become more and more widespread and most surgical interventions in the United States are made for treating such afflictions.

First, lets learn what is the gallbladder and what is its role in our body. The gallbladder is situated near the liver and the duodenum and its major purpose is to store the bile. This is the substance used by our bodies to help us digest the fats. The foods we eat and everything that enters our stomach is decomposed so our bodies can use them in maintaining life. Fats can only be decomposed by the bile. This process lets the proteins and the aminoacids to get through the intestines. The bile works along with the liver. This organ is the one that produces bile and this substance is stored in the gallbladder. It is very important to have a healthy gallbladder, because the bile is used anytime we eat something fat.

Gallbladder pain starts to occur while we get older and older. As any other organ in our bodies, its functions begin to slow down and it does not function as well as when we were young. On the other hand, bile changes, too, which means that more cholesterol in found in its composition. Cholesterol plays a major role in a process of crystallization that leads to the formation of little stones inside the gallbladder. When these stones reach a certain number or volume, we start to experience gallbladder pain.

The symptoms of the gallbladder disease tend to appear at the moment when we eat something containing high amounts of fat. Because the gallbladder has stones in it, the bile cannot be poured in the stomach to process the fats. Other symptoms, besides pain, are vomiting and gas right after we finish eating.

The stones formed in the gallbladder may dissolve in time, but some of them continue to cause trouble. The worst thing that can happen is that they can cover the bile duct, preventing the gallbladder from performing its usual tasks. When something like this happens, the best method to solve the problem is through surgery. The doctor will take the gallbladder out and the patient will be relieved from pain. The intervention is not complicated and, usually, the patient can go home the next day, with the recommendation to stay still another two days.

Without the gallbladder, you will need to perform some changes in your lifestyle. The main one is to change the diet, because you no longer have the organ that performs the process of decomposing fats. So your diet should avoid any types of foods containing fats, because the stomach, without the bile, will not be able to digest them. When you eat fats and you do not have a bladder, all the food with fat you eat will get out of your body through diarrhea.
