Georgia Health Insurance Still May Be Too Costly For Some Living In the Peach State
|
In the past few years SCHIP has had its funding cut tremendouslybecause of the state of the economy, which has severely affected theamount of people who are provided assistance with Georgia health insurance.A bill is trying to be passed by the United State government that wouldprovide more than $30 billion dollars in the next 4 years for childrenwho rely on government aid with health insurance. This would be veryhelpful for people living in the state who don't have the money topurchase expensive health insurance. It is very important that we makesure the children of our country understand the importance of beinginsured as well as having health insurance, many of these children willgo much of their lives without necessary vaccinations if they do notbecome insured which is very dangerous. Also, currently members of the peach state are dealing with a new typeof system as the governor of Georgia has proposed an increase of morethan 1.5% on taxes on revenues from hospitals and insurers in Georgia. This is to help out citizens living in Georgia because the fundingcollected from the hospitals and insurers will go to funding forprograms that help residents with their Georgia health insurance.Although there is some disagreement with the next tax because somepeople feel that instead of taxing sick people they should be taxingsomething that should be discouraged such as smoking, but hopefully nowafter more funding is given to people in the state of Georgia whobefore may not have been able to afford insurance will now be offeredbetter deals in hopes that they will be able to pull the money togetherto buy insurance. It cannot be stressed enough as to how important having healthinsurance is, it not only saves residents money by decreasing theamount of money they pay per doctors visit, but it also will keepresidents more healthy. It has been shown that people with insuranceare more than twice as likely to schedule and go to their yearlydoctors exams as well as get checkups that are necessary for theirhealth and well being. This can help in nipping sicknesses and diseasesin the bud before they get bad.
