Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles burst on the scene in January to rave reviews, so it is no wonder why everyone is so excited about the Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles on DVD coming out. The Sarah Connor Chronicles is an American science fiction television series that is produced by Warner Brothers Television and C2 Pictures. The show is spinning off the Terminator series of films which were highly popular in the eighties, nineties and even into the year 2003 when they made the last film in the trilogy. The original Terminator and star of the three films was Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was reported in November of 2005 that they were going to create a television series that was to be based on the Terminator films and that C2 Pictures was going to be heading up the production of it. C2 Pictures was the company that produced Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, with Warner Brothers Television so they felt they already had an investment with the franchise and that it would be a good fit. After it was announced that Josh Friedman was going to write the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer on the series, Fox Broadcasting Company decided to join the project by making a commitment to the pilot, but only that. Josh Friedman worked on screenplays for films such as War of the Worlds and The Black Dahlia. Originally, the series was just titled The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the plan was to focus on the character of Sarah Connor after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day when she is on the run with her son. The character of Sarah Connor was given to Lena Headey and since the start of the first season she has appeared in nine episodes. The Sarah Connor Chronicles debuted at a time when there were a lot of other pilots out there who were also trying to get picked up, but Fox Broadcasting greenlit production of the pilot on August of 2006. The show ended up getting picked up by Fox on May 13, 2007 along with seven other shows for the 2007 to 2008 television season. The producers of the show decided that it would have much less of the action plots that were typical in the films to account for the lower budget and also to more fully develop the storylines. The series has not disappointed thus far and we are all looking forward to Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicle on DVD this summer.
