Getting your recruitment website ranked on google

The conclusion I came to was that SEO for my recruitment website was important, and the only way I could be sure of getting results was either to learn to do it myself, or at least know enough about the subject to appraise potential companies to appoint to do the work for us. SEO is a daunting subject so here's a few basic tips to get your started.

First you will need to decide on the phrases you want to found for, and to this you'll need to know why you want to be found. If you simply want to be found by clients, a few well chosen phrases will probably suit this. If however, if you would like this to be a major source of candidates for your recruitment database you're going to need a much broader base of phrases for which you are going to rank. If you're not sure, ask a few people in your target audience what they would search for and this will help you build up a list. It's also always useful to have a look at your competitors keywords.

Once you have your key phrases, it may sound obvious but you need to make sure they are on your site. Once your SEO is up and running, you will be looking to building inbound links to your recruitment website through anchor text (the words you click on) on another site. If however, when google follows this link it kind find the key phrase on the site, your simply not going to list. Ideally, try and create a page for each of your best key phrases, then make sure all of your key phrases are on the site somewhere.

Now you need to learn to build one way links to your site. We could write an entire article on link building techniques and which ones are best, but at this stage you just need to get going. The internet is a fantastic resource here, google 'link building' and you should get plenty of ideas. Perhaps the easiest way to start is directory submissions, these are a simply way to generate one way links to your site. The quality will be varied but it's something that's easy and can be done in volume.

Steer clear of any automated services. It's too easy for google to spot an artificial link building service that builds links unnaturally quickly. At best you will get a short term hit but will eventually find the effort and money spent is wasted. Stick to good organic and natural link growth.

Research and learn article marketing. This has emerged as one of the most powerful and natural techniques which should also stand googles test of time. If you are an expert in recruitment, write an informative article and post it up on a few article directories. there are a number of link benefits here. Everything you put an article up, you create a back link for a page on a relevant topic to your site. However, it doesn't stop there, if your article is good, people will download it for their own use, they don't have to pay, but they are supposed to carry your link with them as payment in kind. This can generate many, many additional links, often from relevant sites which will promote your ranking.

The many SEO companies out there would have you thinking it is rocket science and therefore you need to pay lots of money to achieve results, but this simply isn't so. With a little research you really can start and learn yourself with excellent results as minimal costs.
