Glitter Shoes - How to Make These Shoes for Your Daughter



There are many little girls that love the idea of having their own pair of glitter shoes. They see these shoes in movies like the "Wizard of Oz" and decide that they want a pair of their own. Well, you'll find that this type of shoe is difficult to find in any type of a store. So, you may need to consider making the shoes on your own. Here are some simple steps that will help you to make the glitter shoes that your daughter has been longing for, for so long.

Make Sure the Shoes are Clean First

First of all, you'll need to have a good pair of shoes and you'll want to make sure that they are clean as well. If you need to clean them, do so and then allow them to totally dry before you get started on them. It's best to stuff these shoes before you begin to work on them for the best results. Also, putting down some newspaper so you don't make a big mess is a wonderful idea as well.

Spread Some Glue

The next step to take when you are making glitter shoes is to take some glue and spread it all over the shoes. Just make sure that the coat of glue is quite thin so it won't show through when you are done making the shoes.

Add the Glitter

After you have the glue in place, now it's time for the fun part. You're ready to add the red glitter or other color of glitter to the shoes. Make sure that you add the glitter generously so that the shoe is entirely covered. You want to make sure that the glitter shoes, so have plenty of glitter on hand. Also, make sure that you get any lumps off and shake off the excess glitter as well. If there are some parts showing through after the shoes dry, then you'll want to repeat the glitter step again. Then make sure that the shoes totally dry.

Add on Embellishments to the Shoes

Once the glitter shoes are totally dry, then you can add a variety of different embellishments to the shoes that you've made if you want to. You can use ribbon or even some sequins and add them to the shoes. Rubber cement or craft glue is usually your best option for attaching these embellishments to the shoes that you have made.

Top With Clear Polyurethane

If you are done with the glitter shoes and they are dry, then you can top them with a clear polyurethane. Usually using spray is the best idea. You should only put a light coat of the polyurethane on the shoes and then you should allow them to dry totally before you daughter wears them.
