Instead of spending ages to accommodate and accumulate people on your network (surprise, surprise!), you can now get as much as 100 contacts a day. I have read a few success stories on how they did it (unfortunately, it’s not by doing nothing) that yells out loud that it is plausible. With this new wave, there is no more fear of forgetting names, misplaced phonebooks, diminished relationships, and loss of communication due to distance. Expanding your network is not anymore as hard as building bridges. I can kick it off by adding a couple of contacts. And if my contacts have two each too, I’d have a total of six people in my network. So wait, that’s like throwing two slices of pie and they throw you back with six. That’s amazing! So if you think bigger, say each works hard for 5 contacts for starters, that’s 30 new friends! And that’s only just the beginning. Imagine if you multiply your hard work with more than the usual. How much hard work should you invest to get a hundred a day? That’s not a lot really. What if you are only willing to put up so much time for this endeavor? No problem there. Then, that’s how much potential "sales" you will be earning in business lingo. But when we try to translate it that way, we all suddenly get very willing to put in as much effort into building our networks. But remember that adding is not everything to it. There’s maintenance as well. How do you keep this number for good? That’s another topic worthy of another blog discussion. So, what if you have no idea of what I’m talking about? Whoever is not familiar with Facebook is still stuck with the little old paper address booklet that sometimes comes for free when you buy your wallet (I know that was nice but please just grow up). And if you belong to that group, that’s Paleolithic life you are living there, dude. Go forth and ask yourself “Have I even changed the way I run my world lately?” You shouldn’t deny change for nothing is constant in this world. We get tarnished by time. We have to move on to keep up. Change your strategies. Change the way you walk and talk about your business or idea. Is it still by grabbing your phone and talking to Ned who is a Pacific miles away? Screw the telegram if that’s your most precious way of sharing great news about you. By the time it reaches them, it’s either they are too wan to be excited (because of distance) or the news is too old and there’s no sense getting thrilled about it. Social networks have a way of making the people in your little community feel closer and very up to date than you can imagine. Share REAL, helpful news and ideas to countless of people in a single click. That’s the most remarkable capability of social networks. I get loads of messages from people (I don’t really know them but they are in my network and I can't complain) asking me how to go about important decisions in their lives. How many of your best friends or closest neighbors ask you to help them get out of debt (I’m not talking about you paying a partial of that debt but increasing their business sales.)? Have you ever had a Marketing Director ask you which advertisement proposal do you think will be a blast before he launches his campaign? How about someone asking you to be his business partner? These are amazing stories you can possibly share or talk about in your LinkedIn or Ryze.com networks. Maybe, it's a pathway to the road to riches or maybe, just to your heart. Who knows? Increase your network unbelievably. Go back to the 4th paragraph of this write up to remind yourself of how that works. To augment that, consider this: The ability to multiply your contacts in social networks is endless. Your list grows even as you stop adding contacts as long as your friends still do. So in a nutshell, embracing social networking is to Go forth, Change and Multiply!
