Viagra is only available with a prescription so men suffering from ED should always consult with their doctors to discuss their personal health and situation. Studies have found that Viagra increases the flow of blood through the capillaries and can provide relief from Raynaud's Syndrome. On the bad side, Viagra can't be taken by all men. For example, men who are taking beta blockers to treat chest pains caused by angina can't use Viagra. This is because the interaction between the drugs can cause a sudden and sharp drop in blood pressure that can be fatal. Even small doses of Viagra can't be used by these patients. As with all medications, there are also possible side effects to taking Viagra. Most of these such as headaches or nausea are mild and brief. However, there have been reports of men taking Viagra suffering from a sudden reduction of or loss of hearing or eye sight. While it has not been directly proven that the use of Viagra has caused these problems, if they occur men must seek medical help and discontinue the use of the drug. There is also the much talked about rare side effect of an erection lasting in excess of four hours. This is a problem with all ED medications and is very rare but can be potentially very damaging. If this occurs, men should get immediate medical help and stop taking Viagra. Viagra will not work for everybody but overall it id proving to be very safe and effective for most men. It allows them to return to a normal sex life and increases their self esteem. It can be expensive, and there are no approved generic alternatives available.
