Here are the top ten tips for getting youngsters to eat healthy food:. Limiting food increases the risk your kid may develop eating defects such as anorexia or bulimia later in life. It could also have an adverse effect on expansion and development. Also by limiting food you will really increase the chance of overeating later in the day which will cause weight gain. Keep fruit in a bowl on the counter, not buried in the crisper section of your refrigerator. Remember, your kid can only select foods that you stock in the house, by limiting 'junk food' you will by default, teach your kid how to select more healthy foods. Don't label foods as "good" or "bad." Instead, tie foods to the things your kid cares about, for example sports, lecturers and hobbies. Let your kid know that lean protein such as turkey and calcium in dairy products give strength to their sports and educational performance, the antioxidants in fruit and veg add luster to skin and hair and the carbohydrates in full grains will give them energy to play. Give your youngsters a proud grin and tell them how smart they are when they select healthy foods. You might try roasting potato sticks in the cooker ( tossed in just a little of oil ) instead of purchasing french fries. Or, if your kid wants candy, you might make fresh strawberries dipped in a small chocolate sauce. Too busy? Then keep naturally sweet dried fruit at home for quick nibbles. With consistent effort taste buds change and shortly your kid will be craving healthy foods. This could create weight issues in later life. Instead, reward your kids with something physical and fun -- maybe a visit to the park or a fast game of catch. If this isn't a practice in your home, it should be. Research shows that youngsters who eat dinners at the table with their fogeys have better nutrition and are less likely to get in significant trouble as teens. Start with one night a week, and then work up to 3 or 4, to continuously build the habit. There you can put healthy portions of each item on every body's dinner plate. Your youngsters will learn to recognize correct portion sizes. Too regularly folks go for seconds and even 3rds just because the food is right there. You might notice you need less food to feel full. Ask your youngsters to take 3 bites of all the foods on their plate and give it a grade,eg A, B, C, D, or F When healthy foods - particularly certain plants -- get high marks, serve them more regularly.
