Hair Color Correction - When Color Goes Wrong

Many women face the problem of hair color correction at least once in their lives. Those that encounter this problem will attest to the fact that it is no fun to deal with. Hair coloring gone wrong is not like painting your nails the wrong color. You usually can't just wipe the color off and redo it. If it is a temporary wash-out color then hair dye removal can be easy, but to remove permanent hair color you need to go through an involved processand you need help. Hair color correction is possible, but you need to do something about it quickly, and you need to do the right things.

If it was a stylist who got the hair color wrong and it is clearly their fault, then you will need to tell them right away that you see a problem. One way to possibly avoid a stylist giving you the wrong color is to bring a clear picture of the color you want with you. Even if there is still need for hair color correction, the stylist won't be able to say that they misunderstood what you wanted. You'll have proof right there. If it is clearly the stylist's mistake, they should correct it for free. If, after the coloring, your hair is dried right there in the salon, you and your stylist should be able to see right away if it has gone wrong and if hair color correction is needed.

Even if you've colored your hair at home and the results are disastrous, you should probably still seek the help of a professional stylist. Time is of the essence in these matters, too. It is must less difficult for hair color correction to take place if it is within forty-eight to seventy-two hours. Many professionals believe that it takes that long for the color to saturate the hair completely. Make sure that the stylist you consult with has done a color correction procedure before; this is important if you want to make sure that you don't end up with more problems. The stylist will most likely strip the bad color from the hair and then re-dye it in as gentle a way as possible.

There are alternatives to having a professional do a hair color correction for you. You should never try to correct it yourself at home, thoughthat should not be considered an option. Some of the options that you could try, however, are shortening your hair so that the color will grow out faster, washing it with high-detergent shampoos to fade the color more quickly, or dressing your hair in accessories that make the color look better. No matter what you do, you can know that others have been through the same thing, and that nobody who matters is going to think any less of you for having a bad hair coloring experience.
