Hallowed Be Thy Name!

The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. (Mat. 6: 9 - 13) Jesus' teaching became what is commonly known as The Lord's Prayer. Most of us have memorized it since childhood. Jesus teaches that you are to address God as your father. That implies that in order to address God, you must know Him and have a relationship with Him. Praying is a two-way relationship. If you don't now your earthly father then you can't very well speak to him, can you? You are able to call God your father if you acknowledge that He has sent Jesus to die on the cross to for you. Jesus Christ was God's Only Beloved Son. Jesus was the only human being who was fully endowed with the Holy Spirit. Accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, makes you a part of His family here on earth. Jesus is the One who has chosen you. That's why: "Whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My Name, He may give it you." (John 15: 7) Many people will recite repetitive prayers when they are in trouble in the hope that God will hear them. As prayer is communication, and God already knows what you need before ye ask Him, (Mat. 6: 7 - 8) how then should you pray to Him? Jesus exclaimed exultantly: "Hallowed Be Thy Name." Yes, I am sure He shouted it out in praise! It is a triumphant declaration! Paul's letters are great examples of fervent prayers. They all start with thanksgiving and praise and also report the Lord's answer for those he was praying for. (Eph. 1, Phil. 1, Col. 1) Picture yourself walking into the throne room of God! It's like being lifted up into heaven in the midst of the heavenly choirs, crying out: "Holy, Holy, Holy" continuously! "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him and bless His Name." (Ps. 100: 4) The humble acknowledgement of who He is should bring you to your knees. If every believer were to stand in awe of God and start praising and worshipping Him in the full revelation of Holiness, governments would be changed, millions would be healed and peace would reign! To come into His presence causes His anointing to come down. He reaches down to you! When King Solomon dedicated the temple, the glory of the Lord completely filled the temple so that even the priests could not enter. Then all the people bowed down and worshipped, and praised God, saying: "For He is good: for His mercy endureth forever." (2 Chron. 7: 2 - 3) God spoke to Solomon, saying: "... If my people, which are called by My Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chron. 7: 14) God said that He had sanctified the temple because of the sacrifices and worship of the people. (2 Chron. 7: 16) But now you are the temple of God! Can you imagine what He will reveal and give to you? The secret of prayer, therefore, is not begging Him for what you need, or spending long hours in repetitive prayers. Prayer first and foremost is the acknowledgement of His Holiness and giving Him the worship that He is due. Secondly, it is listening to what He is saying to you. He always responds.
