I love to entertain and my daughter is finally at an age where she can enjoy it with me. Most of my friends have kids her age and she liked to get together with them as much as I like to get together with their moms. Last year we came up with the hand painted martini glass plan on New Year's Day. The hand painted martini glass plan is a plan that we came up with so that we could both entertain friends. The plan was to invite the kids over in the afternoon of a holiday party for a craft party. My daughter and I would serve kid friendly food and the kids would work on a craft while I got the house ready. We were both very excited as Valentine's Day approached. I helped my daughter make heart shaped mini pepperoni pizzas for the kids. After the kids arrived, they set to work with acrylic paint making a heart covered hand painted martini glass for each guest. The kids had a great time with this craft. The hand painted martini glasses were a huge hit at the adult party that night. I made a really nice cherry brie appetizer and served Hey Sweetie! Martinis. The martinis called for freezing Iceberg vodka, room temperature Chambord and honey. I warmed the honey and stirred it into the Chambord. I shook the vodka with ice, added the Chambord and stirred. I strained each drink into a hand painted martini glass. This martini was very sweet, simple to mix and was well received. St. Patrick's Day was the next holiday that we used the hand painted martini glass plan. The kids came over on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day and had green milkshakes. They all decided that green shamrocks would look good on the martini glasses. I provided the acrylic green paint and a bunch of martini glasses to the kids. They had a great time getting together and helping me get ready for the adult party that night. Several of the kids even helped me get the appetizer cheese ball prepared. The adults were impressed with the decorations and each one really appreciated having a unique hand painted martini glass to take home as a favor. I had served such a sweet martini on Valentine's Day that I decided to go a different route this time. For the St. Patrick's Day party, I decided to make The Boardroom smoky martini. This martini has dry vermouth, Tanqueray TEN gin and Laphroig scotch that is ten years old. I shook the vermouth and gin together for a full minute. After I added the Scotch, I stirred the concoction four times in a counter-clockwise motion. I strained each drink into a chilled hand painted martini glass and completed the drink with a lemon twist.
