Many people may suffer from time to time because of hemroids or hemorrhoids, as they are also called. There are many causes that lead to the appearance of hemroids and our biped position, as humans, is one of them. When we suffer from constipation or we put too much pressure on the lower body, straining our bowels, then the veins situated in the walls of the rectum and the anus become swollen and they can get even to the point of bleeding. But not only constipation is a cause for hemroids. Also diarrhea, the process of aging, overuse of enemas and laxative meds, as well as excessive weight or pregnancy, can cause the appearance of hemroids. Because of the large incidence of these causes, many people, almost half of the population, is affected by such nuisance as hemroids.
There are many variations regarding the suffering from hemroids. Some people may experience no pain at wall and the only sign signaling the presence of hemroids is a little blood while at the toilet. Others, on the other hand, may suffer from more severe conditions. While in the first case, discomfort does not appear and the hemroids remain inside the body, if the blood veins get irritated and swell so much that the hemroids come outside the body, a blood clot may form and the sensations experienced are very painful.
A good way to get rid of hemroids is by preventing them from appearing. It is not very hard to do that as hemroids are strongly related to your diet. A diet rich in fibers is very good in preventing constipation and therefore hemroids. What you need to do is eat a lot of whole grain products, vegetables and fruits, along with a good hydration of your body. Keep in mind that drinking enough water is also a must.
As some foods like those mentioned earlier have a positive role in maintaining a healthy status, others can be harmful in that they favor the appearance of hemroids. Alcohol, sugar, dairy products have an important role in irritating your bowels, so you must cut down on those if you suffer from hemroids. This advice can be followed successfully when you experience a light or a moderate case of hemroids, but in the most severe cases, you may need surgery in order to have them removed completely.
Also, when the case of hemroids you experience is not that serious, you may add to your healthy diet some medication. The meds will ease the bad sensations and they will help you heal faster. Usually, creams and ointments based on herbal formulas are sold for relieving the pain and the itching in the suffering area. They are analgesic and anti-inflammatory and they can help in the process of healing. They work by easing the blood circulation through the affected veins and therefore, they help decrease the painful sensations.
