Home Renovation Tips

They say that a man’s home is his castle. It’s true, a home is home; be it ever so humble. Your home is your pride. It is testimony to the fact that you are a successful individual who has a roof above his head that has been bought from the hard work you have put in. But no matter how much money you invest in making the home look beautiful by buying costly furniture, exotic flowers for the garden or having the latest bathroom hardware, if care is not taken in say setting up furniture properly, all that investment will not show the desired results. Here, we will look at three aspects which if followed can make our home a better place to look at and live in.

The living room is the first place in our home that we welcome the guests in. It is a place where we unwind after a hard days’ work. So it is important that we make it homely. We will look at how setting up furniture in the living room can make a huge difference. Many times it happens that we buy furniture for the living room and then realize that it is not adding to the beauty and comfort of the room. Instead of changing the entire furniture and buying some more, you should try setting up furniture in a way that it makes the best use of the space you have.

Before you start setting up furniture, draw a scaled layout of the living room on paper. Also make cutouts of the furniture that you have. Now taking into account wall outlets, wirings, switches, windows and doors, try out different arrangements of the furniture until you find one that you love.

The next area we will look at is the garden. A well maintained garden speaks volumes about the owners and it also brings in a bit of nature in our life. One very pestering aspect of maintaining the garden is getting rid of garden pests and garden weeds. Fortunately there is a chemical free way that you can use to tackle these problems.

Plant a garden which has many different varieties of plants. This way, the garden will attract pests which cause minor and reversible damage and which can be controlled instead of the other harmful types. To eliminate garden weeds, make use of the right quantity of water, use compost and do not cut the grass too short. Make use of beneficial pests like ladybugs which eat other harmful garden pests. Make use of natural pesticides like horticultural oils.

Next let’s take a look at how you can renovate your bathroom which is the one place in your home where you can be completely at ease. To make your bathroom look luxurious, here are some bathroom renovation tips.

Plan and decide on the bathroom layout, color, fixtures, door type before you actually begin with bathroom renovation. Make the best use of natural lighting by adding a window or skylight as it helps to make the bathroom look spacious, makes it energy efficient and also allows fresh air to come in. Install a good bathtub as it is the most important part of the bathroom. There are many options to choose from. Select one which is easy to install and goes with the color scheme. Make use of beautiful mirrors to add the illusion of space and also to make the bathroom more functional.
