How Do You Clean Your Faucets

Are you having a hard time cleaning your washroom faucets and shower heads? You must be thinking it is so hard and all that hard work scrubbing all of those water stains off. But it really isn’t that hard at all. Having a dirty washroom to greet your guests is not very attractive and inviting at the same time. It is simple to clean your shower head and faucets without buying those stinky chemical cleaners that can harm your skin and affect your breathing.

You can clean your showerhead and faucets with using regular ingredients found in your home! A great ingredient to remove mineral deposits is vinegar. All you need is a simple plastic bag, elastic rubber band, toothbrush and toothpicks to complete the process. Fill the bag with vinegar, I suggest you bring the vinegar container to washroom to fill up to avoid spills along the way. Attach the plastic bag filled with vinegar to the showerhead and use the elastic rubber band to tie the bag in place. Leave the bag of vinegar soaking the showerhead for about one hour. After the one hour, pour the vinegar down the drain and remove the excess stains with a toothbrush. The spray holes may still have some excess dirt, you can use a toothpick to pick it all out. Rinse the showerhead with warm water for a couple of minutes and now you have a clean showerhead!

Cleaning a faucet looks like a daunting job with all those grooves and intricate details. It is not as bad as it looks; in fact, it is quite simple. You need vinegar, paper towel and a toothbrush. Once you do it, it is simple as pie. Take the paper towel and wrap it around the faucet, make sure every little dirty area is covered. Saturate the paper towel wrapped around the faucet with vinegar and let it set in for about one minute to dissolve the mineral deposits. Remove the paper towel and throw it away. Now take the tooth brush and scrub away the hard-water deposits and other residue left on the faucet. If the mineral deposits are not coming off, then just let the vinegar soak longer. I recommend using a sprayer and filling it up with vinegar, it is an easier way of cleaning the faucet.

Do you find that water bill has been increasing every month and you don’t know why? A great way of saving money, water, and energy is by replacing your existing showerhead with the new low-flow showerhead. They are excellent because they can save up to 30% of hot water. The regular showerheads use about four to five gallons of water per minute, whereas the low-flower showerhead uses significantly less water. These showerheads are often used in commercial buildings where water is circulated all the time. Many large families have discovered this showerhead because it has significantly reduced the costs in bills and provide enough water for the whole family to use.

How do you know if your showerhead should be replaced? You can always test the amount of water it uses. Take a bucket and mark it with a one gallon indicator, now turn on the water and let the showerhead fill the bucket till it hits the indicator. If it takes less than 20 seconds to fill one gallon of water, your showerhead should be replaced with the low-flow showerhead. This gallon test proves your showerhead uses a great deal of the water; hence, your water bills are increased. The low-flow showerhead is quite inexpensive, and it only costs about ten to twenty dollars depending on the brand and quality, think about all the dollars you will save on your next bill! The inexpensive low-flow showerheads don’t perform as well, meaning there is less water coming in. (weak pressure)

Investing in a good quality low-flow showerhead will save you money on your future water and energy bills. Some may think that the it will restrict the pressure going through the showerhead; actually, it provides just the same pressure as a normal showerhead. It is really a great investment for your washroom. If you are still unsure about buying a low-flow showerhead, you can always do additional research online and you can shop around online to see the different models available. Saving money, water, and energy will help you and the environment in the long run.
