Points to bear in mind A few points one must keep in mind before embarking on dog training to teach your new pet its first few dog tricks are : Keep the sessions short - Do no more than 10 minutes of dog coaching at a push. This way, you would manage to keep your pet eager to play this'game' again. Rewarding the Dog - Praise your dog lavishly and give it a treat that it particularly likes on doing the dog tricks correctly . Be aware - Dog training sessions should be done keeping its nature and abilities in mind. Each breed has different characteristics. For e.g. The Retriever takes simply to dog coaching and will do stuff like fetching a newspaper without trouble, holding it gently in its mouth, while a Terrier might decide to shred it! 1. Teaching the dog to Sit - One of the most straightforward dog coaching exercises is'Sit'. This is one of the basic dog tricks. Do this dog training before all meals and it will quickly understand what'Sit!' means. Then progress to doing this dog training at odd moments and praising the pet often with a treat. Instead of announcing,'Sit' now you've got to say,'Shake', and teach the dog to lift the right paw. Move on to pronouncing'Shake' and hold out your hand. The pet will learn how to mechanically lifting the right paw. If he doesn't put his paw in your hand, take his paw, shake it and then praise, and treat him. Practice this dog training for 1 or 2 days and once it is replying, make it shake paws with anyone one who visits. Jumping through a ring - One of the more fun dog tricks is getting your pet dog to jump through a hoop. It'll shortly understand that you want it to go thru the hoop. Gradually, raise the hoop 3-4 inches off the ground, and call its name again, this time exclaiming'Jump!' Pat and praise it giving while the usual treat. Thus, as you can see, dog tricks can be pleasurable for you and your pet. Teach only those dog tricks that you know it can do simply. .
