How To Choose The Right Felt For Your Pool Table

If you play billiards, then you know the importance of having felt on the top of a pool table. The felt must be secure on the top or it will mess up the game. It is imperative that the felt is maintained to last a while.

In the interim, brushes and refinishers can be used to keep the material lasting for a while. However, this will only last for so long. Then it will be time to replace the felt. It can be done in one of two ways: you can tackle the project or you can have someone more experienced to do the job for you.

If you’re looking to save money, you’re better off doing it yourself. Besides, you can purchase the material without spending an arm or a leg. It all depends on the quantity and quality or felt you’re getting. You’ll have to shop around for the best deals whether it’s online or offline.

You can go a number of different ways when it comes to replacing the felt for your pool table. Just think, your table will look brand new once you get it replaced. It can have a new look to it.

Or you can custom design it to what you want. The felt doesn’t have to be a solid color. You can get felt that has different designs or themes. In the end, if you decide to get a solid color, it doesn’t have to be the basic green that you see on the majority of pool tables.

You may want to select a color that will blend in with the game room. This can change the appearance and make it stand out more. Or you may want to find something that accents or highlights the lighting in your game room.

If you do decide to go the route of customized felt, you’ll have to fork up additional funds. It costs about a hundred dollars to replace the basic green felt. However, if you shop around, you may be able to get a deal with a retailer to sell you customized felt in the same price range.

In regard to price, you will have to make a decision of whether you want to felt that costs more or that is reasonably priced. The felt that costs more will be of higher quality. There is more thread count in this type of material. The higher quality helps when people are playing pool and other games.

That’s not to say that the felt that costs less is not good enough. You have to go with what you can realistically afford to get at the time. When you are able to get a higher quality felt, by all means, do so. Either way, you want to choose a quality that will last on your pool table for years to come.
