Garden bridges have become popular décor for outside landscaping. All you need is the right kind of bridge and it will turn your garden into something amazing. Garden bridges are used for foot traffic and décor. There are different kinds that can be installed. Some of them are arched or plank styles minus hand or side rails; others have rails and decorations; there are some that are specifically for decoration only and are not made for foot traffic. Garden bridges can be used for small or large gardens. They are the perfect fit to install within a stream or a pond. They can add life to a garden that is just sitting there. In order to determine what size you will need, there are several factors to be considered. For an arched bridge, you must measure the distance you want for it to reach across. To do that, you will need to figure out the exact measurement as to how long the bridge will go. You should measure the actual length that it will span across, not including the length of the arch. Even though some bridge manufacturers claim that they sell eight footers, the actual length of the bridges is between six and seven feet. When building a garden bridge, it’s important to note that it should be big enough to walk over areas that contain water. Ponds, ditches and creeks would fit in this category. The measurement should include where people can safely walk across without having to be concerned about slip-ups or falls. The bridge can be customized to your specifications. The majority of these that are built measure at least four feet wide to eight feet long. You can build to make it longer; however, there will be a point where you have to break it off. There are some people that build them up to 40 feet long. They can also be accented with ropes. Or posts can be used for additional décor. If you decide to install posts, measure the distance so that they’ll be enough space between them. You don’t want them all to be wedged together. If you do decide to build one with an arch, there has to be a clearance. Make sure to measure the clearance from the ground to the arch. When you’re doing this, you should actually use the center of the arch as the measuring point of contact. When it’s all said and done, you will have a masterpiece that will be part of your garden’s pride and joy. Keeping it maintained is the key to having a long lasting appearance. Your landscaping can outshine others that don’t have this addition to their garden. Having a garden bridge will be a great addition for your landscaping scenario for many years to come.
