How To Move A Hot Tub

Youve finally made that big decision and purchased a hot tub. Good for you! Now its time to get ready for that delivery and discover how to move a hot tub easily and safely.

Before the truck arrives it is important to make sure that there is a clear access to where the spa needs to go. You might have to trim some trees, take out a portion of the fence, move part of your firewood stack, or take down the clothes line. What ever needs to be done now is the time to do it. You also need to make sure it is clear overhead.

Usually you will have been given a scheduled delivery time and date. You need to have some muscle around to give you a hand. Each manufacturer has their own rules relating to delivery. Some companies deliver curbside which means it gets delivered to your home but they dont help getting it to the right location. Some wholesalers dont even offer that type of service, and some manufacturers offer a full service where they bring along enough guys to get the spa into its proper location.

It generally doesnt take more than a couple of guys to muscle one of these spas around especially with the aid of a dolly, unless youve bought a monster spa.

If you have uneven areas that you need to move the spa across put down a sheet of plywood to even the surface. It works great! If the location is really inaccessible you might have to hire a crane to drop it into position. This doesnt cost nearly as much as you might think.

Once your hot tub is in position its time to have the electrician wire it correctly. Then all thats left is the startup. Always follow your owners manuals directions.

1. Turn off the electrical power at the panel.2. Check to make sure all valves are in the correct position and that the drain valve has been closed.3. Use a mild cleaner to clean the inside of the spa.4. Make sure the filters are correctly seated.5. Get your garden hose out and start filling the spa.6. Once it is full check for leaks.7. Turn on the power at the breaker then turn on the power at the spa.8. Add chemicals and balance your water. Nothing is more important so practice and become a pro at it!9. Wait for the spa to heat up. The initial heating can take anywhere from 8 hours to 24 hours to heat depending on the size of the tub, the size of the heater, and host of other elements.10. Use and relax!

Moving a hot tub is the first step in getting ready to enjoy your spa. Once the spa has arrived and you have properly set it up you just need a little patience while it heats up. After that you can enjoy your spa every day of the year.

So the next time someone asks you how to move a hot tub. You can answer why its a piece of cake. Glad you asked!
