How To Remove Skin Tags: Methods And Treatments

Skin tags are a real hassle to deal with, but moreover when they start appearing on parts of the skin that are visible and we cannot hide under garments. It is not only a question of aesthetics, especially if the skin tags appear in areas where clothing is producing friction against our skin, making them more than just annoying. This can become a serious issue when the number of skin tags increases at an alarming rate with no possibility to make them stop. You may consider a visit to the dermatologist, but such treatments can be costly. Trying on your own some home remedies wont hurt.

There are certain precautions to take, however, before getting down to removing the skin tags on your own. You need to know for sure that what you intend to get rid of is a skin tag, and not something else. If you do it carefully enough, you can remove them safely, and without breaking the bank to pay the dermatologist.

What is a skin tag?

A skin tag is a skin growth that appears in time and grows no more than 1.3 cm. This is an excess of skin and, in general, it is of a slighter darker tone than the skin around it. It can round, or flat, and you can notice that it is attached to the rest of the skin through a peduncle, which is a thin stalk. These are the general signs that tell you that is a skin tag you are dealing with. Here are some methods to remove them safely at home.

Dental floss put to good work

You will need several items to perform this method that we are about to unveil: dental floss (or some thread), scissors or a pair of nail clippers, as well as some antibacterial product. Here is how you must do it: tie up the skin tag using the dental floss; make sure to tie it up at the base. After you do that, you simply snip the tag off with the clippers. Sterilize the cutting tools thoroughly before use.

As the removal of the skin tag will leave a very small wound behind, use antibacterial medication on it, so you do not have to deal with other problems later. The pain the you will experience is very low in intensity and it cannot prevent you from doing it. You will also notice that no other skin tag will grow on the same place.

Baking soda and castor oil mixture

If you do not want to deal with any pain, whatsoever, there is another home remedy that you can try. A mixture made of baking soda and castor oil will serve well for this purpose. You just need to whisk them together until you obtain a paste of a gooey density. With this mixture, treat the skin tags three time a day; in no more than half a month, they will dry and then fall from the skin.

As you can see, these methods can be as effective as a visit to the dermatologist, but less expensive.
