How to Become a Pilot
|
Airplanes are a truly amazing thing; however, what is even more interesting is the men and women who operate an airplane. Each day there are thousands of airplanes in the air all at one time. The pilots of an airplane are responsible for the safety of their passengers and other airplanes in the air. Flying an airplane is an exciting experience that many people dream of doing. Learning to fly an airplane, whether it be for fun or for work, is something that can actually be achieved. Learning to become a airplane pilot is something that a large amount of people are unable to do. The training and flying requirements are so tough that many individuals quit trying before they actually learn to pilot an airplane. One of the best ways that an individual can learn to fly an airplane or get experience by doing so is by joining the military. The Marines, Air Force, Army and Navy are generally in need of airplane pilots for combat missions. Before an individual can go into combat as a pilot they must first be approved for pilot training, finish the training, and then be evaluated. Learning to fly a military airplane or helicopter is a big accomplishment; however, the majority of those who want to be pilots do not make it past the application stage. Many branches of the military require that a pilot be between the ages of seventeen to twenty-four, have great leadership skills, a high IQ, and a degree in math or English or at least a certain degree of knowledge in the subjects. As previously stated being accepted as a military pilot is large accomplishment that many individuals never achieve. Those who are lucky enough to be accepted as a military pilot will be able to receive free pilot training. Once out of the military it is possible that a number of pilots can become commercial airplane pilots. The alternative to receiving free pilot training from the military is taking private flying lessons. Private flying lessons are popular because they offer individuals the change to learn in an environment that is one on one. The only downside to learning to fly privately is that it typically costs a fairly large amount of money. An individual can start taking flying lesson at the age of sixteen. They can’t officially receive their pilot license until the age of seventeen, but that does not mean that they can’t start learning. Once a person has successfully completed a number of pilot lessons they are awarded their Private Pilot License. A Private Pilot License makes it possible for a private plane to be flied for travel purposes or recreational use. A large number of individuals stop with their Private Pilot License; however, others go on an try to obtain a commercial license. A commercial license will cost additional money and it may even require additional training. Although the training is expensive, a commercial pilot is likely to be paid a fairly large salary. Learning to pilot an airplane is something that may be within your reach. With the money, the patience, and the ability to lean it is quite possible that in a year or so you could very well by flying your own airplane.
