This is the perfect rifle scope for close shots when you are in a thick forest or bush. If you set it to 6x, you will have the ideal magnification for shooting at 250 yards or more. On the other hand, if you are going to be hunting in open country and need a scope that will help you make longer shots, then you will need one with a lot higher magnification level, such as the 2.5-10 x 56 or the 4-16 x 50 scopes. You may want to consider a fixed power scope if you do the majority of your shooting at the same distances. These are considerably cheaper than a variable scope.
