How to Choose a Schmidt and Bender Rifle Scope

There are many things that you could take into consideration when you choose from Schmidt and Bender rifle scopes.

The first thing choosing a Schmidt and Bender rifle scope depends on is the type of game you will be hunting for. If you are hunting dangerous game that could turn the tables on you and make you the hunted and you are at close range, then you will want a short focal length scope, such as the 1.25-4 x 20. It has a wide field of view that will let you focus in on your prey quickly.

If you are going to be doing every day type of shooting, then you may want to buy 1.5-6 x 45. This is the perfect rifle scope for close shots when you are in a thick forest or bush. If you set it to 6x, you will have the ideal magnification for shooting at 250 yards or more. This will help you be accurate from far away, and will help you be able to see what you could never see with the naked eye.

On the other hand, if you are going to be hunting in open country and need a scope that will help you make longer shots, then you will need one with a lot higher magnification level, such as the 2.5-10 x 56 or the 4-16 x 50 scopes. The latter one can be bought with fine reticules if you are hunting varmints and do not want them to cover up your prey.

Something else you will want to think about is what your budget is. You may want to consider a fixed power scope if you do the majority of your shooting at the same distances. These are considerably cheaper than a variable scope. Remember you do want to be sure that you do not buy something cheap that is not high quality. Sometimes it may be worth it to spend a little more money.

What Schmidt and Bender rifle scope you choose also depends on what kind of rifle you have. If your rifle is unusual, then a very short scope may not be able to be mounted on it. A high-velocity caliber rifle might benefit from a scope with a higher magnification and a large-caliber double rifle may benefit from a short focal length scope.

If you are going to be using your Schmidt and Bender rifle scopes after dark or at last light, then you may need to make arrangements so that you can test out different scopes at night. Your firearms dealer should not have a problem allowing you to do this so you can get a feel for how the scopes will function after nightfall.

You will want to choose your rifle scopes carefully so that you can be sure to the get right one for your hunting and budget needs. You also want to make sure it is the perfect one for your rifle. Picking the right rifle scope will increase your hunting success.
