How to Find the Proper Refrigeration Hardware

When you have a refrigeration system, it does not matter what the function of that refrigeration system is, you expect it to function as it was intended. Of course, in an ideal world, this would always be the case, but we do not live in this ideal world, so you must be prepared to repair what isnt functioning properly. I find that there are times you can fix the issue yourself, and there are times when a repairperson needs to be contacted; knowing the difference makes a wise person indeed. Usually, you will find that you will want to know the quality and life expectancy of the refrigeration hardware you purchase to replace the old.

Usually, getting refrigeration hardware is not difficult. You find what is not functioning properly, you get a replacement, install the new refrigeration hardware, and then everything works as good as new, right? Well, hopefully this is the case for you, but I tend to call everything a doodad and a doohickey. This is usually not a great way to get the right part.

If you are a doodad and a doohickey type of person, you should actually remove the part (remember how you removed it because you will need the reverse to install the new), and then you take the malfunctioning refrigeration hardware to a place where you can get the replacement. Then, you do not have to know the name, make, or model of the replacement part needed. When the salesclerk asks you what it is that needs replaced, simply smile and hand them the old part.

Sometimes, you will even find they can test the old part to insure that is what is out in the first place. I suggest a new replacement part if possible, because usually a refurbished part will not last as long. If you find that the new is a few hundred dollars more, than you can attempt a refurbished part, but those parts are usually not under the same warranty.

So, if you know the refrigeration hardware name you need, that is fine and dandy, but if you are a doodad and doohickey type of person, you will get the best part by taking in the old. If you find that you are still having difficulty, you can usually get some advice with what the part is and do a search via the internet. This will get you a replacement part if needed because you can compare the image of the new with the one sitting on your computer desk.
