How to Have a Positive Mental Attitude
|
Step #1: Doing good. The universal law says that there's no joy found in doing wrong. People who do wrong, or live the untruth, feel the pain of anxiety, stress, misery, anger, suspicion, lack of confidence, fear and pessimism. When you break a law you empower those around you to be in command of your life, such as your judge, jailer or warden, etc. Doing good is always the initial step in being a happy person. Step #2: Control. The surveys showed that people are happiest if they're in control of their own lives. Self-discipline and controlling one's destiny brings great freedom and feelings of security. People who possess a strong mental self and the ability to control their physical self are happiest. Step #3: Seek the positive. Optimistic people consistantly expect the best. They have hope for the future and focus on the positive in life. They tap into the positive side of their subconscious mind by conciously thinking optimistic thoughts. Remember that your mind is like a stage and you can control the players on that stage. You can choose to think the positive or negative; it is your choice. Step #4: Faith in a higher power. Researchers found that men and women who have faith in a higher power are much happier than those who do not. Most individuals who recover from a severe drug or alcohol addiction report the need of a higher power than themselves. Faith in the unknown is a satisfying experience. Step #5: Close relationships. The single most powerful force in on earth is love. To love and be loved is the highest human experience. The amount of happiness in our life depends on the amount of love in our life. To see how powerful love is just look at those who are not given enough love- it's terribly damaging to a person to be rejected, lonely and unloved. Step #6: Meaningful activity. The happiest people in life have something to look forward to either in their work, hobbies or other activities they participate in. People who do not look forward to going to work, don't have a job, or other meaningful activity often experience unhappiness. Step #7: Service. Researchers found that one major activity common in happy individuals was helping others. Helping other people provided them with great happiness and satisfaction. We see that life is a mirror and people who give, get back. What is it that people receive when they help others? It is an interesting question to think about. Step #8: Forgiveness. Successful, happy people know how to forgive themselves and others. They fully grasp the fact that to err is human-that life is a series of obstacles that help one grow. They recognize that others are human too and they treat others as they would want to be treated. Unhappy people do the opposite. The very first step that unhappy people must take to find permanent happiness is to become self-aware. Self-awareness via cognitive restructuring is successful therapy for self inflicted issues. The bottom line is if people aren't happy it is their own fault and responsibility. Nobody can make them happy except themselves. NOTE: Use of this article requires links to be intact.
