No matter what type of chocolate cake you want to make there are some basic ingredients. They include flour, sugar, salt, cocoa powder, vanilla, water, eggs, and butter. There are some optional items as well that you can include. If you want to go with dark chocolate then you can get the bars of it. Many people love to make milk chocolate cake. Melting a few cups of chocolate chips is a great way to get that great flavor in your cake. The way in which you mix the ingredients when you learn how to make chocolate cake is very important. If you have always just tossed them into a bowl and mixed them you aren't getting the full benefit of the ingredients you are working with. You want to start with the sugar and the melted butter. You want to immediately pour the mixture into greased pans so that you can get it into the oven. You want to bake your chocolate cake at a low temperature, about 350 degrees. When you bake it higher than that it won't bake evenly. You may also end up with a cake that is dry on the ends but not completely done in the middle of it.
