How to Make a Denim Purse
|
1.Step 1The first step in making a simple denim purse is to find a pair of old blue jeans. You want the blue jeans to be in good condition from the back pockets up. Everyone has an old pair of blue jeans, and you should not have any trouble finding a pair. If you do not have a pair, you can always ask friends or family for one. You will want to keep in mind that the purse will be as big as the pair of blue jeans. 2. Step 2The second step for making your own denim purse is to cut off the legs of the blue jeans. You will wan to be sure that you make an even cut all the way across for the best results. Cutting right above the crotch is best, because you will not have that seam to deal with. 3. Step 3The next step for making your denim purse is to turn the jeans inside out. You should have cut off and discarded the legs of the jeans, and you will turn the top part of the jeans that has the pockets attached. 4. Step 4Sewing is the next step for your denim purse. Sew the bottom of the purse up where you cut off the legs, and try to sew as straight as possible. If you have a serger, you can use that for the best results on this seam for your purse. 5. Step 5Take the legs that you cut off from the jeans, and make straps for the denim purse. You will want to measure the strap and make sure that you get them both the same length, as well as a length` that is comfortable to you. You will then attach the straps to the purse. 6. Step 6Once you have finished that step for making the denim purse, you will want to turn the purse right side out, and embellish it the way that you want to. You can add applique to the purse, or even beads and fancy stitching on the pockets as well. As you can see, making your own denim purse is fun. You will love your new purse when you are finished, and everyone that you know will want you to make them one as well. Be sure that you write down anything specific that you have to do while you are making your purse for future reference. You never know, you just might forget when you are making your next one, and taking notes is always a great idea, to refer to for the size needle, and maybe what stitch length you find is best on the sewing machine.
